The Barn Buddies program was developed to meet the needs of feral and semi-feral adult cats that could not be rehabilitated and placed for adoption OR returned to their previous locations. The only solution for these cats would have been euthanasia, which we do not advocate, so we decided to seek appropriate barns as “homes” for these cats. We often rescue cats that are not happy living in homes as companion pets, despite how hard we may try to get them to accept us, but who would make wonderful barn cats.
We will only place adult cats in barn homes and only if they have been evaluated as being unsuitable as house pets. We NEVER place pets or friendly cats into barn homes. This program is designed to find homes for cats that, traditionally, would have been deemed ‘unadoptable’ and destroyed.
